Milcrest's Hotel and Glenridding Village - c1900
Glenridding - c1907
The house on the left is the Post Office, so it's likely that the two ladies standing outside are the Postmistress Agnes Walton and her daughter Jane. They also offered apartments to rent. Behind them, the scaffolding can be seen for the construction of Gowbarrow House and Ullswater House. On the right are Milcrest's Hotel, William Kilner's lodging house (Rose Cottage) and Tom Smith's Grocery shop.

Glenridding Village - c1910
In this photograph, the Post Office has relocated to the shop below newly built Gowbarrow House and Tom Smith's Grocery shop has been converted to holiday lodgings and named Beech House. The Grocery shop moved into a wooden building next to Beech House.
Glenridding Hotel and Post Office - After 1928
The name of the hotel was changed from Milcrest's to Glenridding Hotel in 1928. The bridge was also rebuilt and widened in 1928 following the Keppel Cove Dam disaster in November 1927.
