The maps below show how the grey squirrel population and distribution has increased over the years and the effect on the red squirrel.
The charts show very clearly how the Grey Squirrel has spread into all parts of Cumbria.
The latest charts (sightings between 2008 and 2013) seem to show an improvement in the distribution of Red Squirrels. This may well be but it could also be that more people are reporting sightings - note that the long established Anglesey and Isle of Wight populations are now shown.
